Bari Reef – Dive Guide

Bari Reef has the most diverse number of fish species than any other reef in the Caribbean.  It is a popular dive site for this reason.

We took along a GoPro on one of our dives and you can see the footage here on our Youtube channel.

Shore Entry

Bari Reef is accessible from several hotels, however unless you’re renting gear at Bonaire Dive and Adventure (who run the dive pier) then you’ll need to use the public/shore entrance to the south of the Den Laman apartments.  This can be accessed by car when turning off of the roundabout into the dirt parking lot.

Routing

From the public entry head straight out to the reef and swim North.  You can optionally hug the shoreline and swim to the Den Laman dive pier for a better navigation by more obvious features.  However bear in mind this is an active dock and the owners request for even their guests to not dive underneath.  Head out from the pier to follow a pipe that leads to the reef.  Note that some sections of the pipe are buried in sand although it consistently shows the general direction.

For return routing, ascend to the peak of the reef slope and swim back to the pipe that returns to the dive pier.  You’ll find it at about 15ft.
